Dear Churchill Families,
As we close out Semester 1, I want to take a moment to recognize the hard work and perseverance shown by so many of our students and staff. We saw strong finishes across classrooms, with students pushing through challenges, staying focused, and making meaningful progress toward their academic goals. Our staff continued to go above and beyond to support, encourage, and guide students each step of the way.
Now, we turn our attention to Semester 2 — for many students, this is an opportunity for a fresh start. A new semester brings new possibilities to move forward and continue building positive momentum. We encourage students to focus on consistent attendance with a goal of 90%, staying on top of assignments, making progress toward graduation, and strengthening relationships with peers and staff. Semester 2 is also a wonderful time to explore new learning experiences, discover new interests, and enjoy the many fun and engaging opportunities our school offers.
I also want to highlight the fantastic home Unified basketball game we held this past week on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see so many students, families, and staff in attendance. With the band playing, a halftime show, and both staff and student cheerleaders bringing the energy, the event truly showcased our school spirit and sense of community. We are already looking forward to our next home game on February 11th and hope to see many of you there again!
As we begin Semester 2, I would like to remind students and families that Churchill remains a cell phone–free school from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Our students have been doing an incredible job with this expectation, and it has been wonderful to see students connecting—playing games together, using Etch A Sketches, and engaging in meaningful face-to-face interactions. We also want to encourage our teens to continue being present and staying focused in class. Being fully engaged in learning time helps build strong habits that support both academic success and personal growth.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. Together, we will keep encouraging our students to grow, succeed, and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
Go, Lancers!

Our community is rich with resources and skilled, compassionate providers. Our hope is that this guide will be a support to families as they navigate systems and access services. At this time, Relief Nursery is not able to translate the entire Resource Guide into Spanish, though we recognize the need and hope to pursue that project in the future. The Resource Guide includes some Spanish language translation, particularly in the areas that specifically focus on serving Hispanic and Latino clients, English as a Second Language classes, and Immigration and Migrant services.
