Deaf Awareness Month
September is Deaf Awareness Month. Next week, from September 22nd through the 28th, is International Week of Deaf People, and September 23rd is the International Day of Sign Languages.
To celebrate, we recommend the inspiring book Haben: The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law by Haben Girma. You can also learn sign language from Deaf creators on social media and explore the many types of sign languages used around the world—like Mexican Sign Language, Black American Sign Language, Japanese Sign Language, Taiwanese Sign Language, and many more.
